Stroud in Bloom

Involving Youth and Community

In 2015 School children created a beautiful wild flower strip along Merrywalks which was greatly admired by passers by and by the Britain in Bloom judges (picture of planting taking place is below).   Guides also helped with clearing litter and weeds around the top of the town, help which was greatly appreciated (pictured below) along with the efforts of the volunteers who regularly work in the Stroud Hospital Patients garden, creating an oasis of peace for patients and staff to enjoy.

The Adopt a Plots around Stroud, small, previously neglected areas are also tended by individual volunteers, who with perennial planting have created many attractive areas in town, all of which gives Stroud its unique character.  Capel Mill is another area which is managed by volunteers working for Stroud Valley Projects, a very popular spot enjoyed by a lot of people and a wonderful area as a base for events.
